1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember your actions and preferences over a period of time, so you don't have to re-enter them every time you visit.
Lycia uses cookies and similar technologies (including localStorage) to operate its website and, with your consent, to analyse how the website is used.
2. Cookie Categories
Lycia categorises cookies into three types:
2.1 Necessary Cookies
Required for the website to function correctly. Cannot be disabled. These cookies are enabled by default and cannot be disabled.
2.2 Analytics Cookies
Help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously. These cookies are disabled by default and are only loaded after you give explicit consent.
2.3 Marketing Cookies
Used to deliver advertisements more relevant to you and your interests. These cookies are disabled by default and are only loaded after you give explicit consent.
3. Cookies Used
3.1 Necessary Cookies
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Party | Before Consent? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| lycia_cookie_consent | Lycia | Stores your cookie consent preferences (version, categories selected, timestamp) | 1 year | First-party | Yes |
3.2 Analytics Cookies (consent-based)
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Party | Before Consent? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes unique users (anonymised IP) | 2 years | Third-party | No — loaded only after consent |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Maintains session state | Session | Third-party | No |
| Google Tag Manager | Manages analytics and marketing tags (only loads analytics after consent) | Session | Third-party | No | |
| Microsoft Clarity | Microsoft | Anonymous session recordings and heatmaps | Session | Third-party | No |
Analytics cookies are only listed where they are actually configured in Lycia's SEO settings. If an analytics provider is not configured (no GA4 ID, GTM ID or Clarity ID set), its scripts do not load.
4. Consent Management
Lycia implements a versioned consent system with the following features:
- Analytics scripts are disabled by default — they do not load until you grant consent
- Your consent choice is stored in localStorage with a version number and timestamp
- If the consent version changes, the cookie banner re-appears and prior consent is invalidated
- You can withdraw consent at any time via the 'Cookie Settings' link in the footer
- Withdrawing consent immediately removes all analytics scripts from the page
- Consent is category-specific — you can accept necessary only, or necessary + analytics, or all
5. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
In addition to Lycia's consent system, you can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View all cookies stored on your device
- Block all cookies or specific cookies
- Delete all cookies when you close the browser
- Block third-party cookies
For instructions, see your browser's help documentation. Note that blocking necessary cookies may affect the functionality of the website.
6. Changes to This Policy
Lycia may update this Cookie Policy when cookies are added, removed or changed. The consent version number will be updated accordingly, causing the consent banner to re-appear.
